Citizen

Welcome

An introduction from council leader James Swindlehurst

I hope you enjoy this latest edition of the Citizen.

With the arrival of warmer weather and longer days, this edition highlights some of the opportunities to enjoy leisure and free time around Slough.

Candidates basked in warm sunshine for most of the 15 hours of local election day (my bald head had reached a rosy hue by lunchtime helping my ward colleagues on 3 May) – and this edition has a gallery of Slough’s 42 councillors, including some new faces following the local elections.

Full Council has elected a new Mayor and Deputy Mayor for the year ahead, so I take this opportunity to thank Councillor Shah, the outgoing Mayor, for her work in the 2017/18 year.

I write this introduction having just learned that Slough has been named ‘Thames Valley Town of the Year’ and I look forward to showcasing our town’s many and further achievements across this, our 80th year as a borough.
