O2 inspiring young people

A group of local young people recently had their career appetites whetted with a special career development day at telecommunications giant O2’s head office in Slough.

The event, which included talks from various O2 employees from across the business, interactive sessions and a tour of the site on Slough’s Trading Estate, was organised by O2 in partnership with Slough Children’s Services Trust.

It is part of the trust’s work to create enrichment opportunities for their young people, get them valuable work experience and help them to think about their future.

Hardip Sandhar, assistant team manager with the trust, who helped organise the day, said: “We’re really aspirational for our young people. They have so much potential and the group who went along to O2 got so much from the event. We’d like to thank O2 for a really brilliant day and also invite any other local companies who think they can support our young people, whether that’s through training, apprenticeships or work experience, to get in touch.”

Elisabeth Rochford, Social Impact Manager at O2, said: “Supporting the employees of the future has always been really important to us here at O2, so, when the Trust approached us, we were only too pleased to get involved. The day was a huge success – the group was so engaged, polite and enthusiastic with, I’m sure, the potential to go far. My colleagues were really impressed. They too got a lot out of this.”

Our young people have a lot to offer local companies and are interested in a wide variety of work areas, as you can see in the word cloud image.
