Active opportunities in Slough

Get Active

The council’s Get Active team has designed a bumper programme of activities offering something for everyone of all ages.

The Get Active 2017 timetable is up and running, with sessions including boxercise, Bollywood dance, disability football, netball, table tennis, free-running, break dancing and lots more.

The Government recommends we all get 150 minutes of physical activity every week, and with lots of free activities across the borough it helps to meet the target.

There are also plenty of outdoor facilities in our parks – have a look at the list here to find out where the outdoor gyms, fitness trails, table tennis and games areas are located.

Volunteers are needed to help support the Get Active programme. If you want to find out more, or offer to help, please call 01753 875177 or email jack.steadman@slough.gov.uk

The full Get Active timetable can be found on the council’s website.

Active Life

The Get Active team support the Active Life programme, which is a physical activity programme across Slough for carers and people aged 50 and above.

Sessions run from Monday to Saturday, including healthy walks (see below), seated exercise, walking football (see below), Pilates, bowls, yoga, badminton and circuits.

Healthy walks

Put your best foot forward with Slough healthy walks. These are free, fun and friendly, offering the chance to get active and meet new people. Just go along a few minutes before the session starts and sign in with the walk leader.

Walking football

This is a free activity, with all abilities welcome. Try out the new 3G football pitch at Arbour Park Community Sports Stadium in Stoke Road. It’s a great activity to start a healthy and active lifestyle. Sessions are on Fridays from 6-7pm. For more information call 01753 875177 or email jack.steadman@slough.gov.uk

Parkrun

Residents are invited to try the free 5k Parkrun on Saturday mornings. The run starts at 9am from the rugby club in Upton Court Park and is marshalled by supportive volunteers. All you need to do is register in advance at the Parkrun website and bring along your barcode on the day.
