‘Amazing’ progress at two leisure sites
Andy Howell (SUR General Manager), Councillor Rob Anderson, Nigel Franks (SUR Development Manager) and Karl Hoffman (Morgan Sindall's project manager)
Councillor Rob Anderson, lead member for leisure and environment, took a sneak peek around two of the town’s leisure sites currently under construction; the Ice Arena and The Centre.
The huge extension and main frontage of the new Ice Arena, facing the Bath Road is now complete with its wood and glass façade shining in the winter sun.
And at The Centre, councillor Anderson got to check out the new swimming pool area, complete with submarine-like balancing tanks to regulate water volume when people are in the new pool.
Councillor Anderson, said: “It was really exciting to see the progress on two fantastic facilities that will soon be ready for residents to enjoy.
“These flagship projects will be the spearhead of our efforts to make Slough one of the most active towns in the country and are only the start of a major improvement in all our leisure centres, parks and open spaces that will allow people opportunities at every level to take control of their own health and wellbeing.” The Ice Arena will be opening in April.
