Slough footballers are county champions

Slough Schools FA U11 District Team were crowned the County Champions for the first time in their history, in a tournament held at the Madejski Stadium Dome complex.

The team will now represent Berkshire Schools FA County in the prestigious Southwest England Regional Finals.

The team were victorious against Wokingham (2 v 0) and Newbury (1 v 0), before drawing with Reading (0 v 0) to seal their title.

The boys were not only superb on the field of play but also in their conduct off it. Multiple spectators fed back on how well they played and also how humble they were in victory.

Scouts from professional clubs were present at the tournament and a number of Slough players caught their eye. The team comprised of Leo Murrell, Luca Isernia, Archie Seeburg, Archie McHugh, Sam Yabani, Royus Buterlevicius, Thomas Roberts, Tyler Haruvisi, Dane Vincent Bailey and Alex Szymczyk.

The council’s Active Slough team has supported the squad since they were successfully reformed by joint managers Alex Imbastari and Simon Stannard in September 2018.

They kitted out the boys in an Active Slough sponsored kit and provided access to weekly training facilities at the new Eton Willowbrook Centre, plus some equipment to get them started.
