Junior parkrun gets little ones active

Every Sunday morning at 9am families from around Slough gather in Salt Hill Park for a free 2k participation event for children aged 4-14.
This national junior parkrun initiative was launched through the council’s Active Slough team and a group of committed local volunteers. Since forming in July 2019, over 300 juniors have completed the course! Parents are welcome to walk, jog or run alongside with their children at the junior event.
It’s completely free to take part in but you do need to register in advance and bring along your printed barcode on the day to receive a time. Children must be aged four and over to register and obtain their own barcode.
Co Event-Director Ciaran Crean commented “The atmosphere each week is fantastic, there is a real community spirit about the event, created by our enthusiastic team of volunteers and all our amazing junior runners and their supportive parents, older siblings and even a few grandparents! Wind, rain or sunshine we’ve seen children come out, get active and enjoy their weekly running, we’re looking forward to watching the event grow through 2020.

To register, visit the Salt Hill juniors parkrun website: which also includes more information on the route and volunteering opportunities. You can also see updates on the Salt Hill junior parkrun via their dedicated Facebook page:
