Council Leader Cllr James Swindlehurst

A new year, a new edition of the Citizen!

This Spring’s magazine features Slough OurFutures programme - the plan to modernise our services, processes and IT and deliver “brilliant basics” in our future operations. Part of our service transformation will see our customer services move from a single centralised location to local hubs in Slough’s various neighbourhoods to make these services more local and convenient to our residents.
With the weather (hopefully!) warming up this edition covers activities and improvements in our parks and show exactly what’s on offer in the borough’s state-of-the art leisure centres. There’s also an update on the major project to deliver a wetland area, with new footbridges, walkways and ponds, in Salt Hill Park. Information on keeping malingering winter illnesses (and more serious diseases) as well as features on other aspects of our public health team’s activity.
The work of the council’s public transport team, including the results the competition to design new road safety posters is in this edition. You can also read about Bin Man Mike’s recycling rap. With the council meeting to set our 2020-21 budget and Council Tax, this is another packed edition for a busy Spring.
I hope you enjoy the read!
