Fun day had a family 5k

5k runners set off

Families walked, ran and jogged together in glorious sunshine at the inaugural Slough 5k Fun Run in Upton Court Park on 23 June.

In a fun-filled atmosphere families were treated to performances from Bhangra Dance groups and spurred on by dhol drummers across the route. More than 45 volunteers, including 30 inspirational young leaders from across the borough, provided endless energy and enthusiasm to help runners cross the finish line.

All finishers received a bespoke medal and goody bag, handed out by Mayor of Slough, Councillor Avtar Kaur Cheema. The race village was the place to be with cycling demos, craft workshops, sport tasters and a starring performance from everybody’s favourite mascot, Marshall from Paw Patrol.

The event, organised by Slough Borough Council’s Active Slough team, built on the legacy of the Family 5k which took place in October 2018, as part of the Slough Half Marathon.

More than 360 people took part in this year's run which was sponsored by Everyone Active.

Well done to everyone who joined in on the day!
