Family bug hunt safari

Tuesday 6 August, 2-3.45pm

Join our exploration for all the creepy crawlies that Trevor Smith can help us find in the nature reserve and in the park too. Learn more about them and how they live.

Meet at the kiosk in the park for a prompt 2pm start.

Family fun day

Tuesday 13 August, 11am-3pm

Basil and Crew's mobile farm is coming back to Herschel Park. Come along to see the ponies, donkeys, lambs, rabbits, chickens and ducks. Why not try one of our Xplorer sessions? This is an orienteering course set around the park. There will also be face painters. All ages are welcome, but children must be accompanied by an adult. More parking on the day is available at Upton Court Park, SL3 7LU.

Bats and moth evening

Thursday 22 August, 7.30-9.30pm

As it gets dark, join in a quiz with Trevor Smith from 7.15pm, before we explore using bat detectors to listen to bats calling as they chase flying insects to eat. Moths caught earlier by Brian Clews will be shown and released. Meet at the kiosk at 7.15pm.

Family pond exploring session

Tuesday 27 August, 2-3.30pm

Meet up with Trevor Smith and explore all the wonderful creatures we collect from the watery world of our ponds as we search for different beetles, bugs, snails and shrimps. Meet at the kiosk in the park for a prompt 2pm start.

Evening talk

Tuesday 17 September, 7-8.30pm

An illustrated talk by Brian Clews, topic to be confirmed. Meet at the Bentley Centre in the park for a prompt 7pm start.
