Social care personal assistant jobs

Are you looking for a rewarding role with great satisfaction where you use your skills to help others to live an independent life?

Slough Adult Social Care Services are committed to increasing the number of people able to receive direct payments so they can live more independent lives with more choice and control over the care and support they need.

By having direct payments people are able to manage their own care need and how they get the help they need - they are able to use the payment to employ their own personal assistant (PA) directly, instead of the council arranging this for them.

Examples of people who might be eligible to receive direct payments are:

  • people with physical and sensory disabilities
  • people with learning disabilities
  • people who have mental health needs
  • older people who may be frail
  • people with long term illness
  • people who may be terminally ill.

One PA said: “Everyday after helping my employer with personal care, I brew a cup of tea for her and serve it with a sandwich. We sit down to chat and the smiles I receive make me appreciate and enjoy my job.”

The council has created a webpage dedicated to personal assistant vacancies, where anyone looking for a job caring for adults in their own home, can see what’s available throughout Slough.

As a personal assistant you could be doing anything from helping with personal care, housework, meal preparation and assistance with paperwork, to helping the person access social activities such as swimming, the gym, shopping and eating out.

Each role will vary in hours and days of work, dependent on the needs of the person and their care and support plan.

Visit the PA jobs page to see the latest vacancies.
