Christmas recycling

When the Christmas festivities are over and all the presents have been excitedly unwrapped, Christmas cards and wrapping paper need to go into the black refuse bin.

Wrapping paper, loaded with lots of sticky tape, cannot be recycled and should go in the black bin. Many Christmas cards have beautiful embellishments or glitter on and these compromise the quality of paper sent for recycling, rendering it useless.

Why not recycle at home by cutting out the pictures on Christmas cards and making labels for presents next year, or use the blank rear of the cards as note paper?

All the waste which goes into the black refuse bin is turned into electricity via the Lakeside Energy from Waste site.
