Welcome

Christmas tree 2019Welcome from the leader of the council, Councillor James Swindlehurst

On behalf of the council I’d like to wish all residents a peaceful and merry Christmas and a prosperous new year. As you settle down to enjoy this year’s Christmas festivities with your friends and families, please spare a thought for the frontline staff across the public sector who keep services going and members of our Armed Forces who serve our country throughout the year and at this holiday time.

Christmas is often a time for reflection and celebration, and at the Youth Awards we recognised the contribution our young people make to our town. If the holiday season leads you to over indulge on festival treats, then do take a look at our programme of activities to shed any extra pounds - from 5k runs to walking football, there’s something for all.

Looking ahead to 2020 work will begin on the former Thames Valley University site to deliver a mixed use scheme and regeneration of the former Horlicks site will get under way, with 325 affordable homes for Slough residents and the conversion of the original factory building into 1,300 new homes.

Merry Christmas!

James.
